Battle of Agrigentum (456) : ウィキペディア英語版
Battle of Agrigentum (456)

The Battle of Agrigentum was fought in 456 between the army of the Western Roman Empire, led by Ricimer, and the Vandal Kingdom. The battle took place at Agrigentum, in modern day Sicily. The Romans were victorious after a hard fought battle.
==Prelude==

Recimer was a Gothic noble who became a general in the Western Roman army. Recimer was very ambitious, and sought a lot of power. The Vandals led by their king Genseric had conquered North Africa and Sicily. North Africa was where grain and wheat was made and shipped to other Roman provinces. The Western Roman Empire organized a campaign to Sicily. Ricimer led his army of Romans, auxiliaries, and Germanic foederati to Sicily. The Vandal army met them at Agrigentum.
